With dramatic cuts to sexual education funding across the US and the promotion of abstinence-only education, teens are facing an unprecedented sex ed knowledge gap. Unfortunately that has forced teens, especially those from underserved Black, LatinX and LGBTQ+ communities, to turn to unreliable sources for answers.
We built a chatbot named Roo to close this gap, giving teens the information they won’t find in schools & letting them privately ask questions they don't want to ask out loud. To get Roo in the hands of underserved 13-17 year-olds we worked with influencers they already trusted to normalize this behavior in places where they already were online. The results were pretty badass:
+ 1300% increase in conversations with Roo
+ 750K Sex ed questions answered
+ 91% of the audience was between the ages of 13-17
+ Influencer content received .005% negative feedback, 9x less than the brand typically receives
+ 6.3% engagement rate on organic content
